SWIMMING: Fifteen-year-old Ruta Meilutyte wins Lithuania's first ever Olympic gold in the swimming pool by beating American Rebecca Soni in the women's 100m breaststroke.

GYMNASTICS: Great Britain win bronze in the men's team final. It would have been better for the British team but an appeal from Japan sees GB demoted from second spot to third, still a fantastic achievement.

DIVING: Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield miss out an Olympic medal in the synchronised 10m platform diving after coming fourth at the Aquatics Centre.

ROWING: Great Britain's Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins break the Olympic record by nearly five seconds to book their place in the double sculls final.

JUDO: Mansur Isaev of Russia wins gold in the men's -73kg final by beating world champion Riki Nakaya of Japan.

FOOTBALL: Switzerland's Olympic football team expels defender Michel Morganella from the tournament for posting racist comments on Twitter.

FENCING: South Korean fencer Shin Lam is left sitting on the floor of the piste in tears after she is controversially denied a chance to compete for epee gold.

SWIMMING: Matt Grevers of the United States wins the men's 100m backstroke final in a new Olympic record time as Great Britian's Liam Tancock finishes fifth.

EQUESTRIAN: The Great Britain three-day eventing team move into second place after a good day in the cross country in Greenwich Park.

WEIGHTLIFTING: China's Li Xueying sets a new Olympic record in winning the women's 58kg weightlifting category at the ExCel Arena with a combined total of 246kg.

JUDO: The father of a female Saudi Arabian judo competitor says his daughter will pull out of the Olympics if she is not allowed to wear her hijab during bouts.
